

Joe “Jody” Allen Oliver of Lorena, 49, passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends April 21, 2014, after a long battle with cancer which he so bravely fought. Celebration of Jody’s Life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors
Jody was born November 17, 1964 in Waco, Texas to Joe and Joy (Allen) Oliver. He attended Lorena schools and later worked Oliver Brothers Transmissions in Temple and Waco for over 30 years. Jody enjoyed Bull Riding, hunting, cookouts, and most of all, his family. You could always find him sipping a cold beer and race car driving. Jody could put a smile on anyone’s face and could always make you laugh. He was a longtime member of the Waco Good Fellas Association and enjoyed giving the children a good Christmas. Family, the outdoors and sports were some of the most important things in his life.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Joy Oliver and his “Mom” Cathy Oliver.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Nanette Oliver, Amanda Oliver and husband Michael, Lillie Oliver, Jennifer Horton and husband Ty, and Ashlee Cooke; father, Joe Oliver and wife Nell; siblings, Tami Teague, Larry Oliver and wife Shawn, Jeremy Collins and wife Ashley, and Melanie King. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
