John Robert Alonzo

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00a.m., Saturday, December 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Benjamin Magnaye as celebrant. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00p.m., Friday, December 29, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors. The rosary will be recited at 6:00p.m.

John was born on July 27, 1981 to Ygnacio and Josie C. Alonzo. He was a graduate of Reicher Catholic High School and played baseball, basketball and football there. He enjoyed fishing and being with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ygnacio and Consuelo Alonzo; maternal grandfather, George Casillas, Sr.; Brother, Joe Frank Alonzo; Uncle, George Casillas, Jr. and aunt, Lydia Casillas Martinez.

Survivors include Casey Benton, the mother of his two children; grandmother, Rosa Casillas; parents, Ygnacio and Josie C. Alonzo; children, Landon and Jackson Alonzo, brother, George Casillas Alonzo and wife Pamela; and nieces, Isabella and Sophia Alonzo. He is also survived by uncles, Johnny Casillas and partner Chuck Gekiere, Joe Casillas, Gonzalo Casillas and wife Rafaela, Johnny Martinez, Alejandro Alonzo and wife Pat, Frank Alonzo and wife Bea and Robert Alonzo; aunts, Janie Hurtado and husband Richard, Connie Alonzo, Ofelia Rodriguez and husband Rene, Irene Rodriguez and husband Gabriel and Dorothy Gonzales and husband Edward and several cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Adam Alonzo, Brandon Sliva, Brandon Grogan, Eric Capetillo, Nick Rodriguez, Gavino Rodriguez, Adrian Hurtado, and Jeremy Collins.
