John Alden Krebs, 97, of Austin, TX , formally of Waco, TX passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 6, 2017. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 68 yrs, Irma Gordon Krebs and daughter June Krebs Everett. He is survived by his daughter Dorothy Stillwell, Austin, TX and Linda and Walter White of Jasper, GA as well as 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
John was born in Wasco, CA in 1920 and grew up in Morro Bay, CA. He joined the US Army during WWII. He was sent to the Philippines where he was captured by the Japanese on Corregidor and was a POW in Manchuria for 3 years. Upon his release he continued his military career until retirement. He later served as a Vice President for the El Paso National Bank in El Paso, TX. He was active in the Waco Shrine and served in the National Ex-POW organization.
A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held Tuesday Sept. 12 at 11 AM at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, TX.
