LTC John T. Lynch, Jr.; Ret'd

John T. Lynch, Jr. passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016. Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Crestview Church of Christ with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Snyder, TX.

John T. Lynch, Jr. was born on October 26, 1923 to John T. Lynch, Sr. and Tabitha Lynch in Paducah, Texas. His parents then moved back to Snyder, Scurry Co., Texas when John, Jr. was about one year old.

John, Jr. grew up in the county jail as his father was Sheriff and had housing in the jail for his family. John, Jr. graduated from Snyder school system. He married his school sweetheart, Angelene Cyrella Fish, when they had graduated high school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943. His tour of duty from February 1943 through December 1945 took him to Iceland and Europe. After the war he joined the Texas National Guard, receiving a commission, and retired in 1983 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He then worked for the city of Bellmead, TX, and served as city manager of both Gatesville and Woodway, TX.

John and his family were members of the Church of Christ. He served as an Elder in the Bellmead Church of Christ, the East Main Church of Christ in Gatesville, TX and Crestview Church of Christ in Waco, TX for approximately 30 years.

John and Cy’s marriage was blessed with a daughter, Sandra Ann Wright and sons, John T. Lynch, III and John T. Lynch, IV. John T. Lynch, III passed away two days after birth.

John retired from the City of Woodway and lived there with his wife Cy. Cy passed away in January 2006 and is buried in Snyder, TX. After being alone for four years, John moved into The Village section of Providence Park in Waco, TX. At Providence Park he met Lennora Kluck. They were married on January 4, 2013 and they continued to reside in Providence Park until his death.

John, Jr. is survived by his wife, Lennora Lynch; his son, John T. Lynch, IV and wife, Jann; his daughter, Sandra Lynch Wright and husband, Herbert; grandchildren, Shandra Wright Copeland, Trey Wright, Regan Wright, Lacy Lynch and Layne Lynch; and great-grandchildren, Owen, Maggie and Charlie Wright.
