She was born to Maria Salas and Pablo Salas on March 16, 1932 in Hubbard, Texas. Josie married Isadore (Chio) Lopez, Sr. on March 30, 1958. She was the Co-Owner of “Chio’s Lounge” from 1970 thru the early 90’s which then she retired, becoming a full-time house wife. She loved listening to Spanish music and dancing. Through the business she made many friends. Josie was a great cook and made the best tortillas. She even missed them when she couldn’t make anymore and we all had to suffer and start eating HEB tortillas. Josie loved cooking for her family and anyone was always welcomed at her kitchen table. You knew you were going to eat a good home cooked meal when you visited mom. She taught us all to cook with a few ingredients, but we could never get it to taste quite like hers. She loved being with her daughters, shopping and going to garage sales. Family coming together was her thing. She loved sitting on the porch in the morning breeze drinking coffee with dad before they started their day.

Mom had 3 little mean Chihuahua’s she loved dearly. They truly tried to protect her.

Josie was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Lupe Salas and Irene S. Vidauri, 3 brothers, Gonzalo Salas, Melvin Salas and Edward Salas. She was also preceded her daughter, Helen Carrizales; granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Sanchez and great-grandson, Sean Michael; son-in-law, Rudy Monrial and Lorenzo Nino, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Isadore (Chio) Lopez; two sons, Joseph (Toby) Gonzalez and Isadore Lopez. Jr. of Waco, four daughters, Cynthia Lozoya, Monica Lopez, Syvia (Sissy) Sanchez and husband, Anthony Sanchez, and Antoinette Nino all from Waco; 22 grandchildren and 50 plus great and great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Anthony Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Paul Richard Monrial, Mario Estrada, Jr., Christopher Lopez and Robert Lopez; Honorary: Joseph Gonzalez and Isadore Lopez, Jr.

Mom you will forever be in our hearts. We love you! You don’t have to suffer anymore. Rest mom Rest.

I am so sorry for the family's loss, Josie was always good to me and greeted me with a hug and a smile. I hadn't seen her in a while, but growing up my mom and her were close. I know my mom is sad that we did not know of this sad occasion and be able to offer comfort to the family in person. She was a great woman and had a lot of love to give to everyone in her life. Prayers to the family.

Grandma, you used to always tell me "mija, finish school get you a Job so you don't have to depend on your mama(grandma) anymore." & every morning we would go by, you'd never fail to ask if we had ate & lord let us had said no...you were the best cook & best great grandmother! I'll never forget the things you did for us & even my Jaydan 💚 you will forever be missed beautiful, I hope you're up there dancing with the angels just as beautifully as them! Rest peacefully!
