She was born to Maria Salas and Pablo Salas on March 16, 1932 in Hubbard, Texas. Josie married Isadore (Chio) Lopez, Sr. on March 30, 1958. She was the Co-Owner of “Chio’s Lounge” from 1970 thru the early 90’s which then she retired, becoming a full-time house wife. She loved listening to Spanish music and dancing. Through the business she made many friends. Josie was a great cook and made the best tortillas. She even missed them when she couldn’t make anymore and we all had to suffer and start eating HEB tortillas. Josie loved cooking for her family and anyone was always welcomed at her kitchen table. You knew you were going to eat a good home cooked meal when you visited mom. She taught us all to cook with a few ingredients, but we could never get it to taste quite like hers. She loved being with her daughters, shopping and going to garage sales. Family coming together was her thing. She loved sitting on the porch in the morning breeze drinking coffee with dad before they started their day.
Mom had 3 little mean Chihuahua’s she loved dearly. They truly tried to protect her.
Josie was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Lupe Salas and Irene S. Vidauri, 3 brothers, Gonzalo Salas, Melvin Salas and Edward Salas. She was also preceded her daughter, Helen Carrizales; granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Sanchez and great-grandson, Sean Michael; son-in-law, Rudy Monrial and Lorenzo Nino, Jr.

Jr. of Waco, four daughters, Cynthia Lozoya, Monica Lopez, Syvia (Sissy) Sanchez and husband, Anthony Sanchez, and Antoinette Nino all from Waco; 22 grandchildren and 50 plus great and great-great grandchildren.
