Jovita "Granny" Martinez

A Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., June 18, 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church. A Private Burial will be held at a later date.

A visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., June 17, 2013 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel.

Jovita was born February 15, 1921 to Enriqueta and Nicolas Ruiz in Tampico, Mexico. She was a Seamstress for most of her life and retired from Vogue Cleaners in 2002. Her proudest accomplishment was becoming a United States citizen in 1991. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She loved to travel with her family and every summer was spent at the beach. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 15 years, Aureliano Martinez; and brothers, Jorge and Sergio Ruiz.

Those left to cherish her memory are children, Martha Segura and husband Lee Roy, Aurelio Martinez and wife Erma, Gracie Gonzales and husband John, David Martinez, and Mary Connie Arvizu and husband Armando; sister, Marta Lopez; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Gonzales, Lee Roy Segura, Armando Arvizu, Vincent Barrientez, Aurelio Martinez III, and Christopher Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Carrizales, Tony Margoitta, and Edward Yglecias.
