August 4, 1928 – April 22, 2011
Mary Moore, 82, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at North Belton Cemetery, Belton, Texas. There is no formal visitation scheduled.
Mary was born to Ernest and Louise (Flint) Moore, long time Bell County pioneer residents, in Tennessee Valley, Texas. This area, now covered by the Belton Lake, was a place of beautiful farms and orchards with the Leon River meandering through the valley. Mary went to public school in the two-room school house in Tennessee Valley and then to Belton High School where she graduated in 1945.
Mary was secretary at First Baptist Church in Temple, and worked at the Veterans Administration in Temple before transferring to the Veterans Administration Data Processing Center in Austin, Texas. She worked in the Personnel Division and received many awards for superior performance. She retired in 1989 and later moved to Waco to be near her brother, Don, and his family. She enjoyed life, her neighbors and friends, and her cat, Sugarbaby. Mary was a member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church in Waco.
Mary, found many new friends at Providence Park’s St. Elizabeth Place, as life’s needs demanded more care. She was later a resident at Wesley Woods Alzheimer’s Care Center and finally at AlzCare, a lovely homecare setting in Waco. Southern Care provided loving care through their hospice services. God uses his angels with special love and caring to minister to His children in need. Mary was so blessed by the care of these very special people and we thank them over and over again.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Bill and Don Moore.
Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Moore; nephew, Steve Moore and wife, Ann, of Waco; great-nephew, Kevin Moore and wife, Miranda, of Houston; and nephews in love, James Teal and wife, Meagan, of Bedford, and John Teal and wife, Jeanne, of Temple.
Memorials may be made to AlzCare, 4308 N. 19th St., Waco, TX, 76708 or Wesley Woods Alzheimer’s Care Center, 1700 Woodgate Dr., Waco, TX, 76712.
Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
