Mattie Marie Hudson Butler

August 23, 1922 – December 24, 2010

Mattie Marie Butler was called home by the Lord on December 24, 2010 at her home in Whitney, TX. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Beacon Hill Baptist Church, 1912 Monte Vista, Waco, TX. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.

She was born Mattie Marie Hudson, August 23, 1922 in Robinson. She married Devearl “Bull” Butler on January 16, 1943. A daughter, Janice Marie was born December 18, 1944 in Waco, a son, James “Jim” was born January 27, 1947 in Waco, and a son, Brad was born October 17, 1960 in Wuerzburg, Germany. She was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and cheerful person who touched every one she met with her love.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 7, 1977 at the VA Hospital in Temple; her daughter on November 23, 1945; her mother in October 1935 in Robinson; her father in March 1959 in Waco; four brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her sons, James “Jim” Butler of Whitney; Brad Butler and wife, Melissa; granddaughter, Lindsey, all of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Nella Hudson of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was cared for with great care and love by April Kirk of Whitney, who she loved like a daughter.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Hudson, Darrell Hudson, Travis Hudson, Gary Burch, Greg Ellet and James Ellet. Honorary pallbearer will be Conda Butler.
