Daddy I love you and miss you I love you to the moon and back

Honor to have known and worked with  you my brother.  

My respects to Mike's memory and sincere sympathy to his family and friends.

I met Mike in 1984 just as I was beginning my first contract security job. I was a little nervous about being placed in a Security Officer position and location with absolutely no training, so a few days before my first shift I ran into Officer Lyon at a burger joint where he was taking a break.

I introduced myself, told him of my lack of experience, and asked him for his advice on working the particular location. Mike sat with me for a little while and gave me some advice and pointers which laid the foundation for every Security and Police position I have held since that time.

Our paths would occasionally cross over the years since that time and he always had a great attitude and was always a pleasure to speak with.

Dear Mrs. Lyon and Family,
The Baylor Scott & White Hospice team is thinking of you and your family during this time. Thank you for allowing us to care for Mr. Lyon and please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. 

I met Mike Lyons in 1997 when I was a rookie officer in field training. He was my field training officer for one day. Gave me good advice.

I worked with Mike off & on at Waco PD. He was a veteran officer to us young ones in the early 80’s. I never heard a bad remark about Mike. He had a great sense of humor. I also never heard much about his service in Vietnam which many veterans such as him did not talk about what they went through. I thank him for his service to our country and our community. May God welcome him into His kingdom, with a welcome of a job well done. Peace & love to his family. 

Twenty five years ago i decided to end my life. As I argued and fought with medical personnel in came this BIGGO man with a gentle smile and eyes I knew i could trust! He talk÷d to me that night and gave me hope! Later to find him being my bestie's dad. He was always loving and kind and will be missed. My love to you all. Lynne

I met this fine Man in 1982 when I came to Waco to work for the TABC.

 He took me under his wing and proceeded to teach me the finer points of dealing with people on the street in lots of places within the city of Waco. What I learned from him probably saved my life a couple of times.

Mike, you were a fine police officer and a finer human being, and my only regret is that I didn’t tell you that often enough.

 God is going to need a supervisor for those patrolling the streets of gold, and you are my recommendation to  Him. 

 If you see a big, big burly guy with the beard riding a Harley, go easy on him. That’s my son. Y’all will like each other.

I love you, brother. Save me a place up there. 

I met Mike in 1983 when I started at the PD.  I am sorry to hear about his death.  My thoughts and prayers will be with your family.  

I've known Mike and the family for over half my life. He was always available to lend a helping hand. I am so grateful for all the years he treated me and my kids as part of his family. 

Mike was my father in law back in the early 80s,you will be missed my friend, we to shall meet again, prayers for your family, 

I got to work with Mike at the PD for several years as a dispatcher and He was a patrolman on the streets.   He was a good friend too.  I enjoyed our talks when I would see him at the house.  Bobbie and to his family, I’m so sorry for your loss.  My family sends our prayers and love to all of you.  Rest In Peace Mike and Thank you for your service and wonderful memories. 

I worked with Mike at Waco PD back in the early 80’s.  Mike was taught the old way of policing and as a young officer, I learned a lot from Mike.  I will always remember a case involving a sexual assault in the Baylor area that I worked and Mike came over as the special investigator. Mike found a small piece of a broken zipper under the bed which was linked to the suspect . His great work solved this case. Mike could work a crime scene on a big case with the best of em - I saw his great work on several big cases. I learned a lot from Mike and will always remember him- I am sad for his family and sad for the loss of Mike.
