

Pat passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at home with her husband in Georgetown, Texas. She was born November 5, 1943 and had just celebrated her 82nd birthday. She was born in Port Arthur, TX to Adolph J. Matte and Gertrude A. Tomme.
She graduated Thomas Jefferson High School of Port Arthur, TX in 1962 and attended Texas Women’s University. Pat married Bill W. Gilbert of Port Arthur, TX, on January 26, 1963, and moved to Waco, TX. She was a devoted wife, mother, and children’s minister. Her hobbies included art, birding, and gardening. Her service as a children’s minister included First Baptist, Waco (1974-1987); Travis Avenue Baptist of Fort X 1987-1994); First Baptist Church of Dallas1994-1999); and Hyde Park Baptist Church of Austin (1999-2002).
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother; and son, Daniel S. Gilbert.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of Georgetown, TX; her oldest son, Philip Gilbert & wife, Lisa of Fort Worth, TX; youngest son, Timothy Gilbert & wife, Danice of Tyler, TX; grandchildren-Caitlyn, Emily, Matthew, Anna, and Morgan; great-grandchildren-Philip and Cameron; brother, Paul Matte (Lorraine) of Berryville, VA; brother, Carl Matte (Rose) of Abbeville, LA; brother, Roland L. Matte (Arlene) of Parks, LA; and sister, Cynthia Matte Black of Lafayette, LA.
She will be missed as an outstanding mother, wife, and companion.
A Remembrance Service will be held at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors, located at 4400 W Waco Drive, Waco, Texas, 76710. The service is scheduled for November 22, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM with the Reverend David Cozart officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park.
