

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cherie Baden; his daughter, Cara Stepp and her husband, Raymond Stepp; his grandson Parker Stepp; and many close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Audrey Baden and his brother Nealon Baden.
Rodney started his adult life as a Deputy Sheriff in Tarrant County. With his love of computers he took positions with several companies as an electronics technician and engineer as well as a customer service manager. As a young man he became interested in a hobby with amateur radios which lead to his volunteer work in emergency and disaster services. Rodney worked with Texas Baptist Men in Disaster relief and recovery. He later translated this hobby into a career and took a position with the City of Waco as Assistant then later Director of Emergency Management of Waco and McLennan County.
After retiring Rodney continued to work as a volunteer with the Lorena Fire Department and has been active with several organizations such as Waco Citizens Police Academy, Heart of Texas Amateur Radio Club, Salvation Army, Texas DPS and AARP.
Rodney and his wife enjoyed travelling including cruises to Alaska, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Australia, Europe and most recently took an extended cruise around Japan. He had many other interests including woodworking and had a love for the Dallas Cowboys, Baylor football and the Lady Bears.
Memorial Services will be at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors on Sunday November 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM with visitation from 12 PM to 2 PM preceding the service. Interment will be Saturday November 12, 2016 at Cook-Walden/Capital Memorial Parks North of Austin in Pflugerville at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Baylor University Golden Wave Band where his daughter was an active member during her time at Baylor.
