

Ruby JoAnn Teague, age 88, passed away on February 13, 2025, Shepherd, Texas. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at Connally /Compton Funeral Directors. She will be laid to rest in Rosemound Cemetery in Waco. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the funeral home.
JoAnn, as she preferred to be called, was born on October 11, 1936, to Archie and Vicy Alice (Pierce) Truehitt in Waco, Texas. She resided in Shepherd, Texas at the time of her death. JoAnn worked at Weston Biscuit Company in Waco, Texas in her early years to help support her six children, later in life when her sixth child graduated high school she returned to work in Houston, Texas as a waitress and eventually became the head cook at Bertrand’s Diner. Her favorite job however was the role of homemaker and mother to which she excelled. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, dancing, and going to the casino with her children and sister-in-law, Loraine.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, brother, William “Buddy” Truehitt, sisters, Dorothy Netherland, Jewel Farmer, Doris “Polly” McCurdy and Ruth McWhirter, children, Terry Whiteley, Nancy Shirey, Charles Whiteley and Richard Whiteley, grandson, Robert Witt and great-granddaughter Elizabeth JoAnn Whiteley.
Survivor: daughters/spouses, Mildred and Keith Chalifoux of Onalaska, Texas, Carolyn and John Collier of Pasadena, Texas; sister-in-law, Loraine Price of Bruceville, Texas, 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
