She attended public schools in Waco, TX and graduated from Waco High School. Shirley worked several jobs throughout her life, most notably, for the American Heart Association. Mainly she was a home maker, mother, and friend who was well known for her kind, caring, loving, and giving heart. She provided unwavering love and support to her mother, grandmother, brothers, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all family members and friends. She was known to all as Granny and could be depended and relied on to be there for weddings, birthdays, and all family events. She was also there to provide love and support during sickness, bad times and moments of sorrow. She had a wealth of experience and knowledge and was always there to provide advice and support and would give the good and the bad when asked and if you were getting on her nerves she would let you know. She was a fair minded woman who loved all in spite of the circumstances. Most of all she loved her family and events when the whole family was together, she enjoyed going out to eat, riding around to garage sales, and going to different places. Some of the fondest memories were sitting on her front porch drinking coffee, talking, laughing, and playing around, or gathering at her house for breakfast, dinner, holidays, birthdays, or just because everyone just ended up being there. Her front porch and her home was known as the gathering place for all of us and she was the cornerstone, leader, and matriarch of the family who was always there to provide love, comfort, advice, and support when she was needed or if she felt you needed it.
