

Shirley Darlene Wood Whiteley-Link, age 73, passed away on February 12, 2026, in Waco, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Shirley was born on June 6, 1952, in Keller, Texas, to Henry and Doris (Garner) Wood. She made her home in Waco, where she resided at the time of her passing.
Shirley’s love for her family was unwavering and fierce, extending far beyond blood relations. She welcomed others as her own, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to anyone in need. A devoted woman of faith, Shirley centered her life around her relationship with God and sought each day to walk faithfully by His side.
Known for her strong will and steadfast convictions, Shirley stood firm in her beliefs while respecting the views of others. She was deeply protective of those she loved and remained committed to their well-being. Her strength, warmth, and enduring spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her presence will be profoundly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Andy Wood; her sisters, Bobby Garrett and Kate James; and her husbands, Wayne Whiteley and William Link.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph Scott Link, Jonathan Clay Link; her daughters, Missie Chalifoux and Paula Renee Thompson; and her brother, Coy Wood; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing Shirley’s faith was her anchor and her love was her legacy. May we honor her memory by caring for one another as she so faithfully did, carrying forward the strength, compassion, and devotion she showed throughout her life.
