Sonia (Garcia) Banda

Sonia (Garcia) Banda passed way Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Benji as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.

Sonia was born on July 21. 1935 in Laredo, Texas to Horacio and Dorotea (Santos) Garcia. Around the age of 1 her family move Chicago, Illinois. She married Mr. Juan Banda on February 23, 1957. They raised their four children in Chicago until the year 1967, when they moved to Waco, Texas. They owned Banda & Sons for a while until they decided to close it down. She then spent years working as a Waco ISD School Cross Guard until she retired.

Sonia was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Anthony (Tony) Garcia. Survivors include her husband, of 64 years, Juan Banda, daughter, Maria Olga (Banda) Hernandez, sons, Ruben Banda and Juan A. Banda and wife, Marylou, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren.
