Inell was born October 30, 1925 in Lott, Texas to Roy and Ruby Sturdevant. She graduated from Riesel High School in 1943, then worked at Texas A&M for a few years. Inell married James M. Stephens in 1948. In the 1950’s they moved to Carrollton where James was employed at Texas Instruments for 30 years until his death in 1989.
