

Agnes S. Balderas of Makawao, Maui, was a loving wife mother, grandmother, sister, and auntie. She passed away on November 4, 2024 at the young age of 96 years under the care of Island Hospice surrounded by family:
She was born in Paia, Maui on May 26, 1928 to Fleming and Gloria Sagon. She was predeceased by her daughter Leona Balderas, husband Juanito Balderas, brothers Philemon (Louise) Sagon, Adam (Rose) Sagon, and Lawrence Sagon. She Is survived by her brothers Able (Priscilla) Sagon, Herbert (Ingrid) Sagon, sister Madeline (Nina) and Walter (deceased) Tavares, sister-in-law Lydia Sagon. Sons Michael (Maxine) Balderas, Reginald Balderas, daughter Jessica (Peter) Cahill, grandchildren Alyssa Balderas (Gene) Si|va, Melyssa Balderas (Patrick) Sosa, Denyse Freitas, Christopher Freitas, and Jennifer Cahill. Great grandchildren Rayna Mariano-Balderas, Kavyka Sosa, Gene (Kea) Silva Jr., Christian Silva, Koa Hashimoto, and Shaeden Lurendez.
Agnes graduated from Saint Anthony High School in 1947 and lived a simple life. After her marriage to Juanito she was a stay-at-home Mom taking care of her children and her home while her husband worked for the Maui Pineapple Company. The only work she did outside of the home was being the Director of the Summer Youth Program in Haliimaile and later in life worked for the State of Hawaii as a cafeteria worker at Makawao Elementary School and lao Intermediate School until she retired.
Please join us in Agnes's Celebration of Life which will be held at Saint Joseph Church Makawao Maui on Thursday November 21, 2024 at 8:30 am. Prayer and Communion Service at 9:30 am followed by burial at Makawao Veterans Cemetery.
