

Brian Hyatt, affectionately known as “The Captain,” passed away on December 23, 2025, at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku, Maui, at the age of 85. Brian was born on January 24, 1940, in Flushing, New York, to Nathan Hyatt and Anna Haber.
A longtime resident of Kihei, Maui, Brian lived a life rich with stories, adventure, and character. He was the founder of HyTech Components Inc., a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, determination, and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Brian found joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially his dogs, collecting antiques, going to garage sales, and sharing stories from his vibrant and eclectic life with anyone willing to listen.
Brian was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer, his granddaughter Alexus, and his great-grandsons Wyatt, Winston, and Malakai. He is also survived by his son Troy Hyatt, his grandson Shion, and his granddaughter Tina.
Brian was preceded in death by his son Ashley, his daughter Debbie, and his nephew Burton Salas.
He is lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, including: Trinity Tumale (Nicholas McNeil), Edward “Noble” Merl (Sheena), Aaron Merl, Bethany Salas-Lesa, Brianna Tumale, Vincint Thomson-Merl, Gabrielle Salas, Brooklyn Merl, Mia Merl, Michael “Elijah” Merl, Micah McNeil, Burton Gaius Salas, Bristol Merl, Genesis Lesa, Maddox McNeil, Dillan Lesa, Urjah Merl, and Emet-Dean Salas-Lesa.
Brian’s legacy lives on through the generations of family who carry his stories, humor, and independent spirit forward. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
