Dagmar Onaona Kane

Dagmar Onaona Kane, 86, of Hale Mahaolu ‘Elua Kahului, Hawaii, passed away on July 23, 2026. Born in Wailuku, Hawaii, on October 23, 1939, Dagmar began life at Malulani Hospital, the daughter of Moses Kane Sr. and Kamaile Kane.

Dagmar’s life was marked by a steady devotion to those around her—beloved for the care she gave, thoughtful in the way she carried herself, and remembered with gratitude for the warmth she brought into everyday moments. Even on ordinary days, she had a way of offering lightness when it was needed, a quiet humor that made others feel at ease.

From 1980 to 2001, Dagmar worked at the Hyatt Regency Maui Hotel as a pantry cook. Through years of dedicated service, she contributed to a role that called for consistency, patience, and attention—qualities she gave freely, day after day.

Dagmar was preceded in death by her father, †Moses Kane Sr.; her mother, †Kamaile Kane; her sisters, †Elaine Kealoha and †Leona Stephens; her brothers, †Alexander Kane, †Elroy Kane, and †William "Billy" Kane; and her great-granddaughter, †Hannah Brown.

Dagmar is survived by her siblings, Uleilia Reichel, Urana(Andy) Coggins, and Moses (Eliza) Kane Jr.; her daughter, Inez Graves; her granddaughters, Charlene (Everett) Brown, Poli'ahu Graves, and Mamo Graves; her great-grandsons, Sketch (Kalena) Brown and Sheriff (Brandee) Brown; her great-granddaughter, Aiyana Graves; and all her nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service honoring Dagmar will be held at Norman's Mortuary - Wailuku, 105 Waiale Road, Wailuku, HI 96793, on August 13, 2026, Thursday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
