

David was the cherished husband of 58 years to Natalie Diaz. He was a devoted and loving father to Paul (Angelica Estevez) Diaz, Laura Diaz, and Daniel (Christina Ibarra) Diaz, and a proud grandfather to his precious moʻopuna, Dante Diaz and Camila Diaz. He was also an amazing brother to his sisters, Olivia Diaz Decker and Dolores Diaz Morado.
A graduate of San Fernando High School, David went on to earn an Associate in Science degree in Mechanical Drafting. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He dedicated 26 years of his professional career to Rocketdyne in Canoga Park, California, followed by 10 years to Northrop Grumman in Whittier, California. He retired as a Senior Aerospace Design Engineer, respected for his skill, integrity, desire to learn more and dedication to excellence.
In 1996, David and Natalie made Maui their home. There, he continued his life of service to others, working as a funeral director for six years before he and his wife opened Lilies of the Field, a Catholic book and gift shop in Wailuku. Most recently, he found joy as a box drummer with the NBA Band, helping to support the Maui Food Bank through his music and community involvement.
David was a faithful Roman Catholic with a deep devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and was honored to be a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at Saint Joseph Church, Makawao, on Thursday, March 5, 2026. A public viewing will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. After a rosary, eulogy will be offered at 10:30 a.m., with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Maui Veterans Cemetery.
