Dwight attended Christ the King School and graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1972. He later enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Miramar, California, until 1978.
A naturally gifted musician, Dwight had been playing guitar since grade school and performed with local bands such as Rebel Image, Chop Stix, The Vandals, and Lee Fernandez & Brothers, as well as at several Lahaina luaus, where his remarkable talent truly shined. Beyond the guitar, Dwight possessed the rare ability to pick up fellow musicians’ instruments and play them effortlessly by ear. Whether on bass guitar, electric guitar, or many other instruments, he played with exceptional skill and versatility. Blessed with perfect pitch, Dwight was truly an extraordinary musician whose talent left a lasting impression on all who heard him play.
Dwight was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Irene Vierra Cambra. He is lovingly survived by his brothers, Glenn Cambra and Robert "Bob" Cambra; his sister, Karen (Halona) Laborte; his niece, Ailina (James) Tagupa-Laborte; his nephew, Jacey Laborte; and his grand-nephew, Thaddeus-James Tagupa.
Dwight will be laid to rest at Makawao Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
Our family takes comfort in knowing that Dwight is now "jamming" once again with family and friends who have gone before him. He will be deeply missed and will forever remain in our hearts.
