

Frances L. De Coite, lovingly known to many as “Granny Franny,” passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on January 29, 1932, to Isabel and Raphael Molina and was a longtime resident of Kokomo, Maui.
Frances was the beloved wife of the late Anthony L. De Coite. Together they built a legacy rooted in family, hard work, and ranching. Tony’s vision for raising cattle and marketing beef became a way of life that Frances embraced wholeheartedly. Whether helping with cattle roundups or preparing her famous beef stew lunches for the cowboys, she was known for her generosity, warm hospitality, and wonderful sense of humor.
A dedicated businesswoman, Frances served as Company Officer and owner of A. De Coite Packing House, Inc. from 1952 until 2021. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly while always making time for the people she loved most.
Frances had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in creating a beautiful home surrounded by vibrant flowers. Her greenhouse was filled with stunning anthuriums, orchids, fragrant ginger, and mountain ferns, all lovingly cared for by her own hands. She delighted in sharing her garden with family and friends, making every visit feel like a walk through a living flower shop filled with color, beauty, and fragrance.
Affectionately known as “Granny Franny,” she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. She watched over them during school breaks, filled their days with fun adventures, and created memories they will cherish forever. Whether they were playing the piano, running through the yard, or simply spending time together, her home was always a place of love, laughter, and comfort.
Frances is survived by her children, Alan A. De Coite, Cindy D. Parris, Mark L. De Coite, and Karen M. Pereira (Joey); her grandchildren, Alana M. De Coite Tavendale (Richard), John Paul S. De Coite (Victoria), Lucas J. De Coite, Jenny LeRoy, Jordan Pearson, Justin Bateman, Connie M. Gouveia (Kaeo), Forrest K. Parris, Kristen D. Ellis (Jon), Jenna L. De Coite, Brent M. De Coite (Mckenzie), Carissa M. Cabatingan, Ashley L. Cabatingan, and Raye A.G. Cabatingan (Kischa); and 17 cherished great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony L. De Coite; her son, Russel J. De Coite; and her parents, Isabel and Raphael Molina.
Frances will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her kindness, her joyful spirit, and the love she poured into everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. Joseph Church in Makawao. Public visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial with committal services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Maui Veterans Cemetery.
