John was born in San Francisco on July 13, 1936. His family moved to Santa Cruz, California three years later where John spent most of his life. Over the years he came to also call Truckee and Maui home. John was very outgoing, loved people and had a great sense of humor. He loved to tell stories, mostly about adventures and mis-adventures, he had experienced. And, John loved to work. His first business was owning a Flying "A" gas station where gas was sold at 25c a gallon and he was known as the "Elvis of Mission Street." He then worked as an administrator for the Boy Scouts of America. He had always wanted to work for the Forest Service so this was right up his alley. But John decided to make a career change and became a financial consultant/stock broker at a Santa Cruz brokerage where he was branch manager and often a member of the Chairmen's Club. He worked in the financial services industry until he retired.
John loved to ski until his knees told him "no longer," he loved to play golf and to travel. But mostly, John loved being with his family and friends. John was larger than life. Those who knew him loved him. He had a side to him that many people weren't aware of, enriching so many lives with his generosity, humor, and spirit. He was a very giving person supporting, over the years, an orphanage in Mexico and many others, including family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Dure-Biondi, and is survived by his wife Gina Biondi; daughter Laura Williams; son Rick Biondi; five grandchildren, Nicole Ross, Chrissy Anecito, Izzy Dure-Biondi, Sammy Biondi and Giovanni Biondi; and three great-grandsons, Ronin, Willie and Sawyer Ross.
