John Kepano Lono Sr. "Johnny Boy"

Visitation will be held from 8:30 am to 11 am on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Wananalua Congregational Church. Service will begin at 11:00 am followed by a celebration luau pa’ina at Malaiakini residence in Waikoloa.

John is survived by his wife, Dawn Kealaulaakamalama Lono and daughters, Tracey Leigh Lanilei Souza (John), Jawna Anela O La’akea Lono & Kazylen Kepano Lono and hanai son John John Helekahi (Tammy) as well as his sisters, Mildred Leilani (Joe) Gorbea, Josephine Kaihuokalani (Robert) Hall, Ethel Kaaumoku Gomez, Carol Maggie Hokulani Alelani (Francis) Oliveira & Alice Mokehana (James) Kai and brothers, Jerry Myer Moke (Veronica-deceased) Lono, Steven Hilo Hanakahi (Rose) Lono, Joseph Kamehameha Lono, Gerard Piilani Lono, & hanai brother Ward (Jean) Mardfin, hanai sisters Kim Moiha, Jacquelyn Alohapolani Waters (Ciro) & 7 grandchildren – Walter Kalani Librando-Souza, Charles James Kekaha Souza, Thomas Ka’amoku Souza, Anela Ku’umakaleawaipunahanaeminoaka’ai Lono-Kaina, Josyah Kekaimaluhia Kaina, Jredyn Taina Kamakanamaikalani Kaina, & Ayzlen Patricia Hewehealaulahokunaleikaiuola Kaina.

He was predeceased by his sisters Maizie Puaala (Joe) Manaois, Helena Kapika Lono, & brothers George Uaiwa Lono. & Francis Kikaha Lono, Jr. (Anna), hanai brothers Anthony (Barbara) Bagio, Kenneth, Michael & Melvin Moiha.

John was owner of Na Pua ‘Ohana flower farm & yard maintenance service with his wife Dawn. He was a musician, fisherman, kalua pig master, bamboo hale builder, made the best ahi poke, and lived his cultural traditions.

The family expresses their heartfelt mahalo & gratitude to Hana Health Center – Dr. Wolfgramm, RN Kelly Whitwell, Emma Park & all the staff, EMTs in Hana, Maui Memorial Hospital as well as Cancer Treatment Centers of America-Phoenix and all who took such great care of John. We will forever be grateful!
