June V. Yatsunoff

June Vaughan Yatsunoff, 91, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, in Wailuku, Hawaii. Born on May 30, 1935, in Los Angeles to Benjamin C. Vaughan and Alice Spence Vaughan, June was a longtime Maui resident whose life was marked by creativity, curiosity, and a deep love of travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Yatsunoff.

Together, June and Jerry were intrepid world travelers and lifelong adventurers, journeying across multiple continents, gathering friends, experiences, memories, and keepsakes along the way. Travel enriched June’s life, inspired her artistic vision, and fueled her lifelong desire to explore and learn; she continued traveling well into her 80’s.

An accomplished and prolific textile artist, June created many aloha shirt designs for Kahala and contributed artwork to Patagonia’s Pataloha line. Through her hand-drawn prints and retro pareu designs, she helped enrich Hawai’i’s aloha shirt tradition and shared the spirit of the islands with people far beyond Maui. In retirement, she continued to grow creatively as an artist, designing beautiful mosaic pieces inspired by her travels and by the colors, landscapes, and spirit of Hawai’i.

June inspired those around her with her creativity and her outgoing, open, and friendly nature. She is survived by her extended family and by the many friends whose lives she touched in Hawai’i and around the world. She will be deeply missed.
