

Leonora Vilma Guerrero, 87, of Kahului passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023, at her home. She was born on July 1, 1935 in Cadaratan, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Norman’s Mortuary. Visitation will begin from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.; service starts at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow. Burial will take place later at 2:00 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku.
Leonora graduated from Bacarra Provincial High School. She met her future husband, Mariano, when he returned to Cadaratan from Maui to look for a wife. They married and returned to Maui, settling in Spanish B Village in Puunene. Mariano worked for HC&S, so Leonora worked at various jobs to supplement their income. Some of the jobs were at hotels, Ikeda’s, Aloha Lanes (cook), Takamiya Market, Noda Market, Dunkin’ Donuts, Blum’s, and Home Maid Bakery. She enjoyed buying and selling produce at swap meets.Leonora was a wonderful loving mother of six children, who was always there when they needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community. She was actively involved with Kahului Filipino Community Association and Maui Evangelical Church. She also helped Mr. Sales as a deejay on his radio show on KNUI. One of her greatest joys was babysitting her grandchildren.
Leonora is survived by her children, Imelda (Jerry P.-deceased) Barron, H. Jerry Guerrero, Nelly Guerrero, Henry Guerrero, and Tracy Guerrero; sisters, Estelita (Rick) Gaba and Teresita (Banuar) Caldito; and sister-in-law, Julia (Doring) Cuaresma.
Leonora is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeremy (Shelby) Barron, Nathan (Stefanie) Barron, Chelsey (Justin) Souza, Cortney (Tederick) Clayton, Casey (April) Abe, Cole Aplanalp, Tristan (Gabriella) Aplanalp, and Sierra Aplanalp; and great-grandchildren, Dallas Souza, Blake Souza, Amaya Clayton, Tederick Clayton, Jr., Macey Abe, Maika Abe, and Hayden Aplanalp.
Leonora is predeceased by her husband, Mariano Bulosan Guerrero; daughter, Edna (Roy) Abe; parents, Fernando Borja Cuaresma and Bernardina dela Cruz Cuaresma; siblings, Alfredo (Paning) Cuaresma, Doring (Julia) Cuaresma, Florita Crisostomo, Edison Cuaresma, and Rodrigo (May) Refareal.Arrangements by Norman’s Mortuary with Online Condolences: www.normansmortuary.com.
