Marina completed the 6th grade in the Philippines and worked throughout her life at HomeMaid Bakery, Tanji’s, as a cultivator in the pineapple fields, babysitting, and retired from HC&S. She was a loving, caring, strong, and hardworking woman who was known for being a wonderful cook. She enjoyed taking care of her plants, making cancanen, watching YouTube – Farming Life, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcelino Sagayaga; parents, Pedro Rivera and Anastacia Rumbaoa; sister, Modesta Rivera; and brothers, Julian, Ignacio, and Alfredo Rivera.
Marina is survived by her sister, Dora Castillo; children, Josefine Blando, Josefa Sagayaga, Teofina Manglicmot, Ryan Sagayaga, Gary Sagayaga, and Mildred (Frank) Chargualaf; as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Christ the King Church in Kahului, with family time beginning at 5:15 p.m., public viewing at 5:30 p.m., and Mass at 6:30 p.m. Burial will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Maui Memorial Park, Topside.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Maui Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Sumida, Dr. Song, the nurses and CNAs of the 4th floor, Islands Hospice, Christ the King Church clergy, staff and volunteers, and Norman’s Mortuary for their care and support.
