Mildred Fernandez, 93, of Haliimaile, Maui, Hawaii, passed away on September 12, 2026. Born at Pauwela-uka on September 12, 1933, Mildred’s life was marked by steady devotion—first to family, and always to the daily, faithful work of caring for those who depended on her.
Mildred was born to Joseph Coelho Sr. (†) and Joaquina Perreira Coelho (†). In time, Mildred became the loving housewife to Charles Fernandez (†), building a home shaped by constancy, quiet strength, and enduring love.
Mildred is survived by children: Roberta (Rudy) Cabanilla, Jeffrey (Christy) Fernandez, Charlene (Jerry) Solomon- Kepani, Douglas Fernandez, and Sharon Fernandez; siblings: Joseph (Betty) Coelho Jr. of Haliimaile, Nelson (Geri) Coelho of California.
Mildred was a grandmother to Ruby (Mark) (†), Erwin (Rose), Lyn, Chad, Jason (Sheena), and Jared (Tina); a great-grandmother to Crystal, Mark Jr., Whitney, Asher, Makayla, Shania, Kahinau, Kala, Ramsey, Keanu, Adrian, Angel, and Aaron; and a great-great-grandmother to Tru and Kamana'o. Across generations, Mildred’s devotion was not simply spoken of—it was lived, day after day, in the way family was held close and cared for with unwavering attention.
A true cat person at heart, Mildred spent a lifetime surrounded by the gentle purrs and playful antics of their beloved pets.
A Funeral Service will be held on October 3, 2026, from 9 am followed by Burial from 12:00 pm at St. Joseph's Church, 1294 Makawao Ave, Makawao, HI 96768.
