Moses Kealoha Timbal Jr.

Moses Kealoha Timbal, Jr., 81, of Hana, Maui, passed away on August 10, 2026. He was born on April 11, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, to Moses Kealoha Timbal, Sr. and Josepha DeVera.

After proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Moses returned to Oahu before eventually making Maui his home. He began his career on Maui with Combined Insurance and later worked as an auditor at the historic Pioneer Inn for nine years.

Following his time at Pioneer Inn, Moses pursued his entrepreneurial dreams by opening Moses of Maui and Jewels of the Sea in Lahaina. With the guidance and support of Fr. Matthew Alencastre, Moses and his family relocated to Hana, Maui, where he began a tropical flower farm. He went on to establish ʻĀina O Loko Maikaʻi, a successful wholesale flower business that supplied flowers throughout Maui.

After selling his wholesale operation, Moses continued his passion for business by opening Tropical Flowers & Bouquets of Hawaiʻi and Kailani's Gift Shop, continuing to share the beauty of Hana with residents and visitors alike.

Moses had a deep love for the ocean and the land. He found great joy working in his botanical garden and sharing its beauty and abundance with others. He treasured spending time with family and friends and especially cherished summers in Hana with his grandchildren, Kailani and Keanu.

An avid and accomplished athlete, Moses was a skilled diver, canoe paddler, weightlifter, and powerlifter. His dedication and strength earned him several Hawaiʻi state and world powerlifting records, accomplishments of which his family is immensely proud.

Moses is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Badua Timbal; daughter, Natalie Timbal; son, Steven Timbal; daughter-in-law, Sanda Timbal; grandchildren, Kailani and Keanu; sisters, Ellen (Henry) Leoiki, Karen DeVera, and Haunani Kanoa; brothers, Rodney Timbal, Wendall (Marcella) DeVera, Michael Quiocho, Stephen (Paula) Timbal, and Glenn (Beth) Timbal; as well as many beloved aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Christ the King Church in Kahului, Maui. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hana paramedics, the Hana Fire Department, the ICU staff at Maui Memorial Medical Center, Norman's Mortuary, and all who have offered their prayers, support, and condolences during this difficult time.

Moses will be remembered for his strength, generosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and in the beauty he cultivated in Hana.
