Born on Oahu, Hawaii, Pete grew up in New Jersey and served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Maui in 2000. A man of many talents, he could fix virtually anything with moving parts. Intelligent and confident, he always worked in scientific fields – electronics, optical, and chemical applications – traveling the world for several different companies and as an independent contractor for the U.S. Government for international project installations. On Maui he was known as “the clock guy” repairing antique clocks since 2001, including grandfather clocks, cuckoo clocks, music boxes, even a 100 year old church tower clock. Pete never met a stranger. He always made himself available to help others, whether they were a friend, neighbor or someone he didn’t know. He generously shared his talents, tools and good-natured disposition to anyone in need. Pete was a genuinely happy man and had a song for everything. He saw little reason to worry. His attitude was “let’s fix it, I can do that”.
Pete was predeceased by his parents Bronislaus and Eleanor Larwa, his sister Vickie, his daughters Andrea and Jennifer and his loyal dog Lilo. He is survived by his siblings Steve, Jim, Janice, Joe and Jay. He is also survived by his best friends Brian, Dmitry and Dustin and his wife of almost 43 years Betsy. As was his wish, there will be no service but he would like those so inclined to listen to some music by Leon Redbone or the instrumental Classical Gas.
