

Presentación Garcia of Paia, Maui, Hawaii, died peacefully in her sleep the evening of August 14, 2024, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was 83 years old. She was born November 21, 1940, to Benjamin & Feliza Lazo, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She had 5 siblings - sisters, Delores (Lazo), Janice (Villanueva) and Emma (Puzon), and brothers Rogelio and Augusto Lazo. She completed high school and vocational school in dress making in the Philippines. Presentación met her future husband, Florencio Garcia of Paia, Maui, Hawaii, initially through letter writing back and forth from the Philippines and Hawaii and eventually met in person in Honolulu, HI, where they soon after became engaged. They were married on July 5, 1971 in Honolulu, HI. The couple moved to Florencio’s home in Paia, where he ran a very successful barbering business. They lived all of their married years together with their 3 children in Paia, until Florencio died June 25th of 2008. Presentación spent time as a worker in the plantation fields of Paia but spent most of her working years (nearly 30 years) as a housekeeper at resorts in Laihina and Wailea, Maui HI. Presentación Garcia was a lifelong Christian & along with her husband, was an original founder of Maui Evangelical Church in Kahului, Maui. She was preceded in death by Florencio, her husband of 37 years; by her parents; and by her sisters Delores and Janice and brothers Rogelio and Augosto. She is survived by her sister Emma Puzon, her 3 children and their spouses — Kenneth Garcia (Kara) of Bothell, WA; Glen Garcia (Mary Jane) of Kahului, Maui HI; Ashley Garcia (Lena Natividad) of Kahului, Maui HI; by 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and by significant extended family. A viewing service in her memory will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 15th at Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku, Maui HI, preceded by a viewing at 6 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, August 16th, also preceded by a viewing for the public at 10:30 am, at Kings Cathedral Church in Kahului, Maui HI. Mrs. Garcia will be buried with her husband in Maui Memorial Park cemetery in Wailuku, Maui, HI.at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 16th.
