Rosa G. Bagoyo, passed away comfortably in her home on Saturday, August 2, 2014 surrounded by family and those who loved her. She is survived by four children, sons, Roger (Ofelia) Bagoyo and Vince (Jennifer) Bagoyo; daughters, Sally (Leonardo) Lozano & Leticia Enriques. She was predeceased by her daughter, Estrella (Rodolfo) Cabatic.
Rosa spent her life living out the love she had for her family and community. On moving to Maui in 1970, she worked as a laundress and dishwasher to contribute to her family’s income. She and her late husband, Vincent Bagoyo, Sr., invested in the community by founding and leading Saranay Maui, an organization that assisted families during their times of bereavement, for over 30 years. She was a dedicated member of the Sacred Hearts Society of Christ the King Church and served faithfully as a Eucharistic minister for many years.
She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Kahului. And was nominated for Senior Citizen of the Year through the County of Maui. But the majority of Rosa’s love and attention fell on being “Nanang” to 13 grandchildren & 15great-grandchildren. She was the maker of Filipino delicacies, the encourager of higher education, was capable of launching a slipper across the room with remarkable accuracy. She had a smile and laugh that brought light to even the most difficult circumstances. Her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren knew they were expected to be all they could be as God created them and was going to support them with unconditional love. Her belief in God, family and community will be her legacy that now lives out in the generations to come.
The family would like to give a special note of gratitude to the nurses, staff, and volunteers of Hospice Maui. Their loving support and care in her last few years made being cared for at home a joy for her and her family. We are supremely thankful.
A celebration of Rosa's life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church with visitation from 6:00 pm t 9:00 pm, including a Resurrection Mass at 8:00 pm.
