With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roulairen, “Ro” Wilson, age 32, of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. Ro left this world far too soon on May 6, 2025, after struggling to find peace on Maui.
Born on January 10, 1993, Ro was a son, brother, friend, and human being who, despite his challenges, carried a deep sensitivity and a capacity for love that was undeniable. He was fiercely intelligent, had a quick wit, and was known for his loyalty to those he cared about. He was the best at everything—basketball, football, video games, and being a brother. He had dreams, talents, and hopes—many of which were dimmed by the weight of circumstances too heavy for one person to carry alone.
Even though his life was marked by hardship, it was also marked by courage. Ro fought for dignity and fairness in a system that too often failed to see his full humanity. He tried, more times than many knew, to find a better path. And while his journey ended in heartbreak, those who loved him will remember his laughter, his warmth, his sense of humor, and his athletic abilities.
Ro found deep connection in the land and spirit of Maui. He loved the ocean breeze, the sunsets, and the sound of the waves crashing at night. His skateboard was his constant companion—an outlet, a source of joy, and a way of expressing himself. Whether skating through the streets of Kihei or sharing tips with younger kids at Kalama Park, Ro’s love for skateboarding was matched only by his love for the island that felt like home.
He is survived by his dad and stepmom, Jeffrey and Chris Wilson; his mom, Tammy McMullen; his bonus mom, Colleen Colegrove; his “sis,” Ciera Wilson (Lee Gardner); his brothers, Gabriel and Roman Wilson; his nephews, Kaesen, Carlos, and John; and his nieces, Tyler, Jrue, and Love. Ro had countless friends—including his “Fox Clan”—and loved ones who wished things could have been different. His passing is a reminder of how urgently compassion, understanding, and support are needed—for those struggling and for the systems meant to serve them.
