Barry Wayne Davis of White Plains MD passed away at age 73 in his home on March 17th, 2025 after a hard-fought battle of health complications. He is survived by his loving wife Terry, of more than 50 years, his son, Matt and his wife Erin Davis, his daughter Marie and her husband Geoff Harbaugh and his 5 grandchildren Kaley, Madison, Michael, Grace and George. He is also survived by his brother Richard Davis and sisters, Donna Weisher and Barbara Davis. He is preceded in death by his son Mike who we know greeted him at the gates of heaven.
Barry retired from WMATA after 30 years and started Barry’s Backhoe Service, which he worked for the next ten years.
He was larger than life in more ways than one. Most often the tallest man in the room, he had nicknames like “the gentle giant” and the “big guy” but was always down to earth and easy to talk to. Barry was an authentic and genuine person who deeply loved his family and friends. He was enjoying retirement by golfing and riding his electric bike with his buddies.
He was an avid sports fan and could often be found watching and rooting for his beloved Washington Redskins and San Francisco Giants, watching horseracing, or on the sidelines of his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Barry was one of a kind and will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. A funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady Help of Christians 100 Village Street, Waldorf MD on Wednesday March 26th at 11:00 AM. The Visitation will be at Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Rd. Waldorf MD from 5-7 pm on March 25th, 2025, and a private burial will be at noon on Thursday March 27, 2025, at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mike Davis Foundation 4640 Duley Drive, White Plains, MD 20695.
