Diane Clarke Scott, 85, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, in San Diego, California. Born Diane Swain Clarke in Washington, D.C., she later married Hubert L. Scott, with whom she shared many devoted years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Beatrice Clarke; her brother, Michael Clarke; and her beloved husband, Hubert L. Scott. She is survived by her sons, Robert J. Scott (daughter: Megan) and Thomas L. Scott (children: Laura and Julian); her daughter-in-law, Diane M. Scott; her brother, J. Stephen Clarke; and her sister, Alison Clarke.
Diane began her professional life as a nurse in Washington, D.C., before dedicating herself to raising her two sons. Family was always at the heart of her life, and she later cared devotedly for her husband during his illness.
A woman of steadfast generosity and calm strength, Diane also devoted herself to her community. She led her local Cub Scout troop, teaching young people responsibility and service, and later became a chapter leader in TOPS, where she formed enduring friendships and shared her natural warmth, compassion, and encouragement with many.
Her family and friends will remember Diane for her gentle wisdom, unwavering love, and the steady presence she provided in times of difficulty. Her life was one of service, devotion, and quiet strength, leaving a legacy of love for those she touched.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf, Maryland, followed by a service at the funeral home. Interment and graveside conclusion will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
