Ghislaine Paultre, passed away peacefully in Maryland after a 9 year journey with Alzheimer's disease, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Although she spent the majority of her life in Haiti and Florida, following a brief period in Detroit where she became a nurse, she spent her last days in her daughter Erica Michael’s home surrounded by the love of her only child, son-in-law, and grand-children.
She was born December 27, 1946 in St. Marc Haiti to Amalia St. Jean and Leon Paultre. Ghislaine was the fourth child of six. After the death of her eldest brother, Dr. Abner St. Jean, Ghislaine was inspired to study nursing. She attended Grace college of Nursing in Detroit, and continued her training to become a CRNA, a career she passionately performed until her retirement in 2013.
Ghislaine Paultre lived her life the best way she knew how. She was generous, loyal, independent, spirited, and readily available to all those she loved fiercely. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
Ghislaine is predeceased by her mother Amalia St. Jean, her brother Abner St. Jean, and her sisters Yvette Berrouet and Nicole St. Jean.
She is survived by her daughter: Erica Paultre-Michael; her son in law: Zishan Michael; her grandchildren: Ava and Arshavir Michael; her sisters: Enna Paultre-Duclos and Claudette Paultre-Michel; her nieces: Miriam Berrouet, Caroline Souriac, Tiffany and Jessica Amisial, and Sara Amalia Duclos Lauzier; her nephew: Ray Berrouet; and her grand-nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Rd, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
