Jean Marie Ware

Jean Marie (Roland) Ware, 86, of Fort Washington, MD and Edinburg, VA, passed away on May 28, 2026. She was born March 20, 1940 in Fort Washington, MD to Teresia Lucille Thorne and George Ralph Roland.

Jean married Larry Ware at Providence United Methodist Church in Fort Washington, MD on May 29, 1963. She worked at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC for many years, first as a secretary and then as a technical illustrator. She also ran Roland's Farm (her family's farm) with her brother. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, photography and collecting cats.

Jean was a loving wife; a devoted mother; a fierce protector of her family; and a warm and thoughtful friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Jean is survived by her husband Larry; her daughter Tracy; her son-in-law Hudson; her son Scott; her granddaughter Emma; her large extended family; and treasured friends.

Preceding Jean in death were her parents, Ralph and Teresia Roland, and her brother, Francis Roland.

There will be a graveside service at 11am on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Providence United Methodist Church, 10610 Old Fort Rd., Fort Washington, MD.

Flowers should be sent to Jean's cousin, Sally Walsh, at 10915 Old Fort Rd., Ft. Washington, MD. The flowers will be taken to the church for the graveside service.
