John Warfield Green

John Warfield Green, age 56 of Waldorf, MD passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023. John was born on March 22, 1967 at Walson Army Hospital to Jo Ann (Raftery) Green and the late Capt. Joel W. Green, Jr. John spent his childhood in Burlington County, NJ and Waldorf, MD. In 1985 he graduated from Oxon Hill High School, where he excelled at math and history and was enrolled in the Science and Technology program.

John was an undiscovered Jeopardy champion, a prodigious reader, and fan of the Vikings, Mets, Nationals, and Capitals. John excelled in customer service, working as a concierge in the District of Columbia and a mutuel clerk at regional racetracks.

John is survived by his mother, Jo Ann; siblings, Joel W. Green, III of Herndon, VA and Joseph M. Green of Bethesda, MD; Aunt Frankie (Power) Raftery of Sun City, AZ; and several cousins. John will be missed but not forgotten.

The family will receive friends at a grave-site service at 1pm on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to Thoroughbred Charities of America.
