Joseph (Joe) Clark Duley (70) born in Washington D.C. on August 16,1954 to John (Jimmy) Ryon Duley Sr. and Joyce C Duley, passed away on June 25, 2025, after battling kidney disease and other medical issues.
Joe is survived by his mother – Joyce (97), brother - John R Duey Jr, his wife Sandy (deceased), and his stepfamily, sister Margaret D Halterman-h. David – sister Julie Vauzyl-h. Jaques – niece Amy – nephew Jesse – nephew James Kidwell-w. Linda + family – Aunt Carol Waselewski – Aunt Irene D Larrow-h. Jerry and many cousins.
He grew up in Croom, MD on his parent’s farm and his grandparents farm raising tobacco, black angus cattle + hogs. Joe went to Marlboro and Mattaponi grade school. As a teenager, he belonged to the local 4-H club. He graduated from Fredrick Douglass High School and was an FFA member winning ribbons for 4-wheel wagon backing up. He also learned about machinery, tractors, and cars on the farm.
After high school he was a volunteer fireman in Co. 45 Upper Marlboro. He worked for Sears + Roebuck Co. for over 20 years and C+L Automotive to retirement. From age 18, he was an antique car enthusiast along with Cousin Ronnie Carrol, both helping to form Southern MD Street Rods. His 1939 Chevrolet is well known, and he traveled to at least 30 states across the country attending car shows.
He was a great mechanic on motors, small engines and other mechanical things.
Cowboy shooting meets also was a hobby, Joe liked and participated in over the years.
Joe’s friend list is large from schoolmates, co-workers, car club, car show travels and people he met when their paths crossed.
He was well liked, appreciated, and generous with his time to friends + family, so we will all miss him no matter how he touched each of our lives. Our sadness is less knowing Joe is in God’s house now.
A visitation will be held at Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf, Maryland on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 5:00 PM-7:00 PM.
