It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Laurence "Kirk" Broadus, a loving and devoted son and friend to all whose lives he touched. Kirk left us on March 21, 2024, at the age of 68, just three months shy of his 69th birthday.
Born on June 20, 1955, in Washington D.C., Kirk graduated from Eastern High School in 1977, and went on to work for the National Park Service, U.S. Postal Service, as well as a plumber's assistant and handyman.
Kirk will be remembered for his kind heart, delightful sense of humor and willingness to help others. He was generous, a great listener, and had a remarkable compassion for others. With his sharp mind, he had the ability to repair about anything. He exemplified loving kindness and generosity of spirit to all who knew him.
As a loving son, Kirk was an enormous help to his mother, keeping up her house and yard and tending to her daily needs. He was a wise sage and caring brother to his siblings and a loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews. A quiet and giving soul, he will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is forever in our hearts.
Kirk is survived by his mother, Ruth Adams; his sisters Earline Hill, Marlene Chandler, Darlene Bullock (Mike); his brothers Michael Broadus, Ted Adams (Stacye) and Vidal Adams (Jeanette); one uncle Leon Clemons; and one aunt Patricia White; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. at The Gospel Ark Temple, 4551 Benning Road S.E., Washington, D.C. 20019. Repast immediately following the service.
