

Lowell Rudolph Ernest Naef, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Lowell split his time between Maryland and Florida, where he enjoyed a full and meaningful life surrounded by those he loved.
Born on December 30, 1940, in Copiague, Long Island, New York, Lowell was the son of the late Arthur and Irma Naef and brother to the late Elizabeth “Betty” Naef Vasos Farabaugh. He received the Holy Sacrament of Communion at the Catholic Church of St. Martin in Amityville, NY, and graduated from Amityville High School. As a young man, he served as a volunteer fireman alongside his father at the North Amityville Fire Company.
Lowell proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class radar technician. He completed his training at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was later stationed at the Air Force Station in Lockport, New York. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Hofstra University and a Master’s degree in Professional Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. He also completed the Program for Senior Executive Fellows at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Lowell will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, love of family, and zest for life. He found joy in simple pleasures—spending time on the golf course, cheering on his favorite sports teams, cruising in his Corvette, and enjoying the companionship of his beloved dogs.
Lowell is survived by his devoted wife of almost 29 years, Mary Ann Lontoc-Naef, with whom he shared a loving and fulfilling life. He also leaves behind a large and cherished family. His children:
• Debra Harrison of Pensacola, FL (preceded in death by her husband William Harrison) and their children Ross (Bridget) Harrison and Jennifer (Tyler) Bowman, and great-grandchildren Parker and Dylan Bowman
• Michael (Patricia) Naef of Waterford, MI
• Teresa Naef of Davenport, IA and her son Michael (Maggie) Brons-Houk
• Matthew (Susan) Naef of Ortonville, MI and their sons David, Joshua, and Luke Naef
• Jason (Lena) Naef of Apex, NC and their children Julius, Emily, and Sophie Naef
He is also survived by his stepson Robert (Paige) Lontoc of Decatur, GA, and their children Massimo and Santino Lontoc.
In addition, Lowell leaves behind his loving dog, Charlie, a loyal and faithful companion who brought him great joy.
A Funeral Mass will be held on July 15, 2025, Tuesday at 11:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5323 E County Rd 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. Immediately following the Mass, Lowell will receive Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow at the Family Life Center of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 4 PM.
Lowell’s legacy of strength, kindness, and quiet determination will live on in all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
