Born on January 12, 1939, in Madisonville, Tennessee, Luna lived a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone around her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Pearl Gibson; her father, Leon Gibson; her sister, Lena Row; and her brother, Claude Gibson.
Luna will be remembered as the heart of her family. She created a home filled with love, safety, and a place where everyone felt welcome. Even the memory of her home brings a sense of comfort and happiness to those who knew her. She was always just a phone call away and made sure her family knew they could come to her with anything. She had a special gift for listening, spending hours in conversation, genuinely interested in every word, making each person feel valued and heard.
To her grandchildren, she was more than a grandmother—she was a second mother. She gave endlessly of herself, offering light and strength during life’s darkest moments. Her kindness, generosity, and pure soul left a lasting impact on everyone she touched.
Luna was a devoted wife who loved her husband Billy deeply. Luna and Billy shared 62 wonderful years of marriage together, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Together, they found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially tending to their beautiful garden each year. She also built meaningful and lasting friendships through her women’s Bible study group, where she shared many cherished moments and regular activities with close friends.
A woman of deep faith, Luna devoted her life to God and was a dedicated member of Waldorf Baptist Church since 1970. She began working as a preschool teacher at the same church in 1983, where she lovingly nurtured and guided young children for many years before retiring and embracing her most treasured role—being a full-time grandmother.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Billy Altizer; her daughters, Patricia King and Tracy Yetter; her grandchildren, Shelby King, Sydney King, Laura Beard, Jack King, Keirsten Yetter; and her great-grandchildren, Aria, Weston, Noa, Wynter, and a new great grandchild due November 2026.
Luna’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
