

Marguerite (Sandy) Buote Ritter, 87, widow of Joseph F. Ritter, of Staunton, lost her battle with Alzheimer's on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Envoy of Staunton. Mrs. Ritter was born in Staunton, Virginia on March 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Frank and Hessie (Harris) Sandy. Marguerite was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Marguerite spent 30 years traveling as an Army wife. She met her first husband Ralph Buote while he was stationed at Woodrow Wilson in Staunton. She traveled from Japan to Germant and across the United States. She was retired as an accountant from the National Endowment of the Arts and then moved to Florida with her husband Joseph F. Ritter. Mrs. Ritter returned to her home in Staunton in 2006. In addition to her parents and husband of 32 years, Mrs. Ritter is preceded in death by a brother Frank W. Sandy, Jr.; a granddaughter, Tammi Garber Switzer; and a sister Dorothy L. Zeigler. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Buote) Garber and husband Ronald of Churchville and Barbara (Buote) Catterton of Waldorf, Maryland; a granddaughter, Sky Moats and husband Brian; four great-grandchildren, Robbie Switzer, Destinee Morris, Matthew Morris and Madisynn Moats; two brothers, Erskine Sandy and wife Kathryn of Staunton and Harold Sandy of Indian Head, Maryland and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, July 31, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. at the Huntt Funeral HOme, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 am. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland, where Marguerite will be buried beside her husband and granddaughter.
