Mildred McMillion

On Friday, November 9, the Angels came for Mildred Cathaline McMillion. Her long beautiful life ended at the age of 91 at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in Dale City, Virginia.

Mildred was born in Rainelle, West Virginia on March 31, 1927, and raised in Williamsburg, WV. She married her beloved husband Homer “Mac” McMillion on September 3, 1946. The couple resided almost their entire marriage in a home in Accokeek, Maryland, built by her husband. In their later years, they also enjoyed time at their beautiful cabin in Brandywine, West Virginia with a majestic view of the mountains and the peacefulness of the wilderness. They enjoyed 51 plus years together as husband and wife before Mac passed on April 9, 1998.

Mildred was a loving wife, mother, housewife and friend to all. And an active member of her church her entire life. She is survived by her two daughters, Suzette Daugherty (spouse Frank Daugherty) and Holly Clubb (spouse Timothy Clubb), and three granddaughters, Rita Daugherty, Chelsea Vega, and Jessica Clubb. She is also survived by one sister and three brothers, Marjorie Workman, Homer Winfrey, Don Winfrey, and Clyde Winfrey.

A deeply religious woman, Mildred had a strong belief in Jesus and during her final days on this earth she vividly described looking for Jesus, walking in a field, crossing a stream, knowing she would find Jesus. And in her final moments she was repeating the name “Jesus” over And over aloud. So while we are sadden by our loss and will miss her deeply, it is not a time for sorrow but rather celebration, as Mildred did find Jesus and the Angels found Mildred.

Mildred’s life will be celebrated at the Faith Outreach Community Church, 10301 Old Fort Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744, on Saturday, November 17. The viewing will be at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Mildred will be buried beside her husband later in the day at a private family grave site service Trinity Memorials Gardens.

Flowers or contributions in her memory can be sent to the Faith Outreach Community Church.
