Nancy Caro Hunter
Nancy Caro Hunter of White Plains, Maryland passed away in the early afternoon of August 15, 2022. She was 88. “Nan” was born on February 3, 1934 in Pensacola, Florida, the first of four children to John C. Caro and Teresa M. Caro. She was wife and partner of 49 years to husband Everett Neville, who preceded her in death in 2003. Nan was mother to daughters Kimberly, Kelly and Kathleen, sons Kevin, Kristen and Korey, “grandma” to 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
As all who knew Nan can attest, she was always charming, gracious, welcoming, kind and generous. Her beautiful spirit shall endure forever, and she shall reverberate in our fondest memories and through the wondrous legacy of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and beyond.
Nan attended Catholic schools from first grade through high school. She attended “Catholic High” in Pensacola, Florida, where she was the Home Coming Queen and Cheerleading Captain, graduating in 1952. The following year, in February 1953, she met her future husband “Nev”, then a naval cadet in flight training at the Pensacola Air Station. They quickly fell in love and married in October 23, 1953. Soon thereafter, they transferred to San Diego, California, marking the beginning of Nev’s exemplary Naval aviator career, and their own family to come.
As the family grew, Nan, Nev and family transferred to several duty stations, from California, to Texas, to Ohio, to Maryland. Mother to six children, with only 10 years difference between her oldest Kimberly, and her youngest Kathleen--Nan was a truly patient, dedicated and loving mother throughout. She instilled life’s most important values in all her children--to love, to be true to themselves, to be independent thinkers, to be kind, considerate, empathetic, and to help those in need. She was always supportive, giving of her time and attention, and always there for her children and grandchildren.
Nan always made great efforts to make birthdays and holidays special, and Christmas was especially an important time at the Hunter household. They always held an open house Christmas Eve party, and Nan not only loved to entertain, but was gracious and welcoming to all. Her many grandchildren and great grandchildren always looked forward to the “Christmas sleepovers” that Nan scheduled every year. Nan made it a memorable time for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, to come together, have fun, play games, to love and enjoy their extended family right before Christmas. Every one of her grandchildren have their own fond memories and remembrances of how truly wonderful those times were. Nan made it happen!
Nan was deeply involved in civic and volunteer services. From her children’s school activities to home owners associations, and many others—Nan remained actively involved in her children’s lives and in the community, to make a difference--and indeed she did! She was a teacher’s aide at a Montessori School for many years, and because of her innate talents and the fact that she raised six of her own children, was well respected and adored by students and teachers alike.
We are all so blessed and thankful to have had Nan, “grandma”, in our lives. She was the best, kindest and sweetest family matriarch any family could hope for. We take solace in knowing that her exemplary spirit lives on, and her beautiful legacy shall endure. Nan was loved and appreciated by all who knew her. Her easy smile and kindness would light up a room! Her gentle, loving ways, compassion and fortitude will be long remembered. Nan was a gift to us all, and our loving memories of her shall be everlasting.
Nan is preceded in death by her parents, husband Everett and daughter Kimberly. She is survived by daughters Kelly H. Helton (Robert), Kathleen H. Troyner (Michael), sons Kevin J. Hunter (Amy), Kristen N. Hunter (Elizabeth), Korey E. Hunter (Roberta), son-in-law Alan Paquette (husband to Kimberly), 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Following Mass, internment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd, Clinton, MD 20735 at 12:00 PM.
