

Richard Alan Tinsley, 72, of Waldorf, MD, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021. He was born on February 7, 1949 in Monterey, California. His parents Mary Agnes and Carl Learned raised Rich. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie Jo (Kimble) Tinsley with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, two daughters, Shelly Farley (& Chris), Dawn Ferrell (& Jason) and several grandchildren which he adored; Alexandria, Noah, Andrew, Callum, Christian, Sophie, Jackson, Liam, Noelle, Ben, and Gracie He is also survived by his younger brother, Lawrence Tinsley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Agnes and Carl Learned, sister, Deborah Dillahay, brother, Timothy Tinsley, and nephew, Scottie.
After graduating from high school, Rich went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Marines. He served with distinction as a Reconnaissance Marine in Vietnam. His discipline and patriotism that he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family would attest. He earned several medals including…..Two Purple Hearts, Two Bronze stars for heroic service in a combat zone, a Silver star medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine good conduct medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Gallantry Cross Medal w/Palm, National Defense medal, and Navy/USMC Parachutist Badge. Once honorably discharged from the Marines he worked with Boilermakers Local 45 for over 30 years.
Rich participated in a Wednesday night Pinefield league with his wife, where he bowled two perfect games. He loved spending his time watching western movies, the news and the weather. He enjoyed family vacations to the Outer Banks, cruises with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren.
