Born in Trenton, NJ on December 6, 1949 to the late Robert D. Tantum, Sr. and the late
Charlotta Wilkes Tantum, Bob spent his early years in Clearwater, Florida. He was
drafted into the US Army in 1968, served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in
November 1971. After the Army Bob worked in numerous fields, he retired in 2014 from
the US Government where he worked for the Transportation Security Administration.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen and their son Christopher, and his sister, Janice
Morgan (Don) of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was preceded in death by his brother William
(Billy) Tantum (Karen), and his sister Joellen Norwood (Jack). He leaves behind many
beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Those who knew Bob well knew him as kind, generous and able to bring laughter to
almost any situation. He loved animals, especially dogs and was known by many as
‘the dog whisperer” as every dog he met was drawn to him immediately. Bob loved to
travel, fish and watch baseball and softball.
A burial service honoring Bob will be held at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery on
January 26, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date to
honor his memory.
