Roger Lewis Ullman

March 19, 1943March 18, 2021

Roger Lewis Ullman, 77 of Mechanicsville, MD passed peacefully on March 18, 2021 in La Plata, MD after a long battle with prostate cancer and more recently, Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on March 19, 1943 in Leonardtown, MD to the late Louis Theodore and Mary Magdalena (Schaub) Ullman. Roger is survived by the love of his life, Virginia “Lee”, whom he married on November 8, 1963 and again on December 7, 1963. Together they raised two daughters: Stacy Lynn Guy (Jimmy) and Misty Dawn Lallande (JJ), four grandchildren: Travis James Guy, Corey Matthew Guy, Kelsea Leigh Lallande, and Mitchell Berkeley Lallande, and was the brother to: Charles Joseph Ullman (Beth) and Mary Emily King and brother-in-law to Mary Ullman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William Burtice Ullman and brother-in-law Joe King. Roger never shied away from hard work, there was no job that was too big or too small. He was known to all as the hardest working man, a true jack of all trades. He spent his life working on the family farm in Pomfret, MD, B. Frank Joy at Pepco, W. L. Gary and worked many odd jobs for anyone who needed his expertise. Roger loved to turn other people’s trash into another man’s treasure, spending time outdoors, sitting on the porch just listening to nature or talking to Lee, Charlie or anyone who stopped by, driving his tractor “down back” on his property, gardening, tinkering in his garage and passing along his skills to anyone who needed some guidance. His grandchildren brought joy to his life and he loved just spending time with them. The stories they shared will never be forgotten. There will be no services, as those were his wishes. Memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Visit to download the form.

Roger was my friend since High School. When he married my sister, Lee and became my brother in law I was so happy to have him in our family. Roger always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and never met a stranger. He loved Lee and the girls and then the grandsons. They were his pride and joy. I will forever miss him!
