Sharon Rood

Sharon Rood passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022, with family by her side. She was born in Bozoo, West Virginia on September 25, 1939, to Orville and Ernestine Miller. She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from Conrad High School in 1957. Upon her graduation, she went to work for American Aviation to help support her parents and three younger siblings.

She was in the Navy Reserves for two years until she married John Alson Rood Sr on April 15, 1966. They moved to Waldorf, Maryland in 1976 and raised three children.

Member of the Waldorf Church of Christ since 1976 where she would later become the secretary for over 20 years. She loved reading, sewing, working word searches and singing. She had an angelic singing voice and loved singing church hymns and songs by the BeeGees and Abba. She was a most loving mother and true friend to all she met.

She is survived by her brothers, Leo Miller and Jerry Miller, sister Wilma Blue (Carroll), daughter Sheri Robertson, sons John Rood Jr (Somruedee) and James Rood. Additionally, she was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter along with several nieces and nephews.

She will be missed and held in our hearts forever.

Funeral Services will be held March 3, 2022, 1030am at Cheltenham Veterans Home, 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, Md 20623
