Shirley Eileen Butler

November 24, 1946April 30, 2018

Shirley Eileen (Baglio) Butler passed away on April 30, 2018. Shirley was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on November 24, 1946. Shirley graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1964 and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana in 1967.

Shirley married David E. Butler June 1, 1967 and was his loving wife and best friend until her death in April of this year. In November of 1969 they had two children, Stacie and Jon, while living in San Diego, California.

Shirley loved to read, bake, sew and travel, but more than anything else she loved people. Her favorite things to do included spending time with her family and friends and meeting new people, who quickly became new friends. Everyone who met her was touched by her thoughtfulness, kindness and patience. Shirley will be lovingly remembered for her generous heart and her ability to light up a room with her smile.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Samuel J. Baglio, and her mother, Eileen W. Drerup. Shirley is survived by her husband, David E. Butler, as well as her children, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and countless friends who Shirley always considered to be family. Shirley will be deeply missed by all.

A private memorial service will be held at 11:00am on May 12, 2018, at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, Florida. A celebration of life will be held in early June. The date, time and location are to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, pay Shirley’s kindness forward – spend time with friends and family, send a card, make a phone call or simply be kind to a stranger. David and Family,
No words can express the sorrow in our hearts. Shirley was one of a kind. She was a mom to Jen when I wasn't there and I will be forever grateful. She was a special, loving and giving person who will be missed by many but remembered by all who knew her. Please know of our love and prayers during this difficult time. She is finally at peace.
Love,
Pat & Ken
